Living the values: Recognising excellence at Haydon School

Purpose

The rewards programme celebrates and encourages students to uphold Haydon's core values of Respect, Community, Kindness, Excellence and Perseverance. By recognising positive behaviour and academic efforts, the system fosters a culture of achievement, motivation, and community spirit.

How rewards can be achieved

Achievement Points Allocation -  Staff recognise students displaying Haydon core values by awarding achievement points via the BromCom system and at key points in the year.

Points can be earned through:

  • Curriculum and pastoral-related efforts.

  • Year, Curriculum and Deputy, and Head Teacher commendations

  • Positive communication to families/carers (e.g., postcards, letters, emails, or phone calls)

  • Hot chocolate / ice cream with the Head Teacher.

All staff are encouraged to contribute by:

  • Allocating achievement points for positive behaviour and displaying values.

  • Making at least two phone calls per week to celebrate individual students' efforts

  • Nominating students for awards and shout-outs

Students can contribute via shoutout nominations.
